Mangaluru, Jan 30 : Martyrs' Day is observed by nation on January 30th every year, commemorating the anniversary of the assassination of Mohandas Gandhi in 1948, to salute his martyrdom. Keeping this in mind, Peace day / Martyrs' Day was celebrated at St. Agnes CBSE School here on 30th January 2020, to pay homage to the victims who sacrificed their lives and fought for the freedom and welfare of the nation.

English Professor of St. Aloysious College Mr. Anup Denzil Veigas was the chief guest of the day. Students of grade IIC, IVA and VIIC hosted the programme. The significance of the day was emphasized through prayer service, dances and skit. The display on the school notice board highlighted the true essence of peace and harmony.

The Central Board of Education awarded our Ex-Agnesian of grade X, Miss. Unnathi Shetty for securing 100% marks in Science for the year 2018-19 and she was honoured by the chief guest on this day. The Putani Vignana - Maths Talent winners too were awarded with certificates and medals. The chief guest in his message expressed that “peace is within ourselves and we must bring it out by living in peace in the society”. To pay respect to the martyr’s of our nation one minute silence was observed at 11.a.m.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks wherein the students thanked the principal Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C for giving an opportunity to showcase their talents.
