Mangaluru, Sep 20 : Fr Edwin Mascarenhas was laid to rest at St Don Bosco Church, Bola Kelmbet, on Sunday, 20 September 2020 at 4pm. The funeral Mass was presided over by Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore and concelebrated by Most Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi and priests.

Fr J B Saldanha, Parish Priest Bejai Church offered tribute. Prior to the mass, Fr Edwin Mascarenhas' body was kept for public viewing in the Church. Priests, religious and lay faithful paid their last respect to him.

Fr Edwin Cyril Mascarenhas, son of Maurice Mascarenhas and Faustine Mascarenhas, after a short illness breathed his last at 3.30 am on 20th September 2020. He was 57. Fr Edwin was an ordained priest, for the Diocese of Mangalore on 7th May 1991. He served as Assistant Parish Priest at Shirva, Omzoor, and Bendure parishes and parish priest of Petri, Anegudde and Mariashram(Talapady) parishes. He also served as the Headmaster of St Joseph’s School, Bidar; then as Principal of St Joseph PU College, Bidar; St Antony College, Naravi and St Sabastian PU and Degree college, Permannur, Thokkottu.

He just arrived to Valencia Church as Socius and meantime his health condition deteriorated leading to his untimely demise.
