Omzoor, March 29 : Maundy Thursday was observed with great devotion, at Holy Family Church, Omzoor on March 28th, at 6 pm with a large number of faithful partaking in the holy mass. The solemn Eucharistic Celebration was concelebrated by Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Director ICYM Mangalore Diocese; along with Fr Alwyn D’Cunha, parish priest.

Three important events are the focus of this day. First, Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples, the day on which the Holy Eucharist was instituted. Secondly, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as an act of humility and service and thirdly, he instituted the ministerial priesthood.

Following the homily, as a symbolic gesture and as a tradition to commemorate Jesus' selfless act of love and service, the Parish Priest, Fr Alwyn D’Cunha washed the feet of the chosen parishioners representing all men, women, youth, religious and elders.

Soon after the mass, the Holy Eucharist was taken in procession to the ‘Altar of Repose’ which was specially prepared with floral decoration.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was conducted by Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. All the parishioners devotedly participated in it.
