Mangaluru , Jul 28 : Bethany Lay Association Day celebration was held at Rosa Mystica Convent , Kinnikambla on 27th July 2022 at 5.45pm. Bethany Lay Association members gathered together in the Convent chapel to celebrate the Eucharistic celebration officiated by Rev Fr Ravi Rudolph Dsa, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Pompei Church, Kawdur. During the mass they thanked God for all the Blessings and graces which they received in the year 2021 to 2022. Due to Covid-19 BLA celebration was not held for the past two years. During the Eucharistic celebration 21 members renewed their consecration and another 7 made their consecration. They were ceremoniously handed over ID’s on the occasion. Fr. Rudolph during the sermon called on them to play the parts of Bethany Saints, Mary and Martha by being contemplatives in action. Liturgy was meaningfully conducted by them. Community sisters led the choir.

After the mass there was a felicitation programme organized by the BLA members in the Convent Recreation hall. They enacted a small skit of modern Lazarus and the Rich man, taking the Biblical background written by Mrs Hilda Menezes. There were spot games and quiz conducted and prizes were given to the winners.

Fr. Rudolph in his speech congratulated all the members for being active and for sacrificing their time and energy for the society.

Sr Leera Maria the Superior of the Convent thanked all the members specially Sr Sadhana the animator and Sr Joyceline the assistant animator for assisting the BLA members to put up the day’s programme.

Sr Anna Maria the Province coordinator for Pastoral apostolate encouraged the BLA members to reach out the catholic families and to assist them in their needs like working towards de-addiction of alcoholic dependents and procuring government schemes for the unorganized sectors of workers in the wards and in the parish.

Mrs Winne and Mr Sunil presented the BLA report for the years 2020-2022. Mr Alwyn Peris welcomed the gathering. Mrs Vijaya DCosta compeered the day’s programme. Mrs Helen Lobo expressed sentiments of gratitude to all the organizers and the participants. The fellowship meal was served on the occasion. It was prepared by the Sisters of Rosa Mystica Convent.
