Mangaluru, Sep 23 : On the Occasion of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary , ICYM St. Peter City Deanery along with ICYM Kelarai Unit organized "SAKKAD SANGATHA MELYAN 2023", a joyful get-together on 18th September 2023 at 5:15pm at Kelarai Church Hall.

The programme began with a prayer service led by the ICYM members of Kelarai unit. Rev. Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas - Parish priest St Anne church Kelarai, Rev. Fr. James Dsouza -Vicar Forane , City Deanery , Rev. Fr. Paul Sebastian Dsouza – ICYM City Deanery Director, Santhosh Dcosta– Vice President Parish Pastoral Council Kelarai, Celine Dmello – Secretary Parish Pastoral council Kelarai, Arleen Dsouza- President ICYM Kelarai unit , Ashton Dsouza- President ICYM City Deanery, Ashlin Dsouza- Secretary ICYM City Deanery were present on the dais.

Ashton Dsouza, the President of ICYM City Deanery welcomed the gathering . Rev.Fr James Dsouza, The chief guest and Rev. Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas symbolically inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with the other dignitaries on the dais. The chief guest Rev.Fr. James Dsouza addressed the youth and gave the youth a thoughtful message. Rev. Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas, in his Presidential speech he mentioned that youth are working really hard to make every event successful and must show their spirit throughout. Ashlin Dsouza- ICYM City Deanery Secretary proposed the Vote of thanks. Alisha Crasta , Kelarai compered the programme.

After the inaugural ceremony, Three competitions were organised for the youth of city Deanery, I.e: Singing, Quiz and Pick And speak that was based on Mother Mary. All the youth came forward to show their talents and participated actively in these competitions.

During the Valedictory programme , Rev. Fr Ashwin Cardoza – Director ICYM Central Council, Mithesh Dsouza- President ICYM Central council, Wilma Lobo – General Secretary-ICYM Central Council, Terrance Crasta – Regional Vice President ICYM Karnataka and City Deanery Representative, Mr.Clarence Pinto ,Mr Alwyn Dcunha, Sr . Shanthi UFS - the Judges , Rev.Fr Joseph Mascarenhas – Parish Priest St Anne Church Kelarai, Santhodh Dcosta- Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council Kelarai , Ashton Dsouza – President, ICYM City Deanery , Ashlin Dsouza- Secretary ICYM City Deanery were present on the dais.

During this programme MIJARC Representative Prajwal Lopes and YCS Regional President Briston Rodrigues were also present.

Rev .Fr Ashwin Cardoza addressed the youth and congratulated them for participating actively and supporting each other and enlightened the minds of the youth. Mithesh Dsouza addressed the youth and shared his thoughts and gave his wonderful message. Mr. Alwyn Dcunha one among the judges congratulated all the participants for their efforts and enthusiasm for participating so well in the competition and then announced the names of the Prize winners . The dignitaries on the dais gave the prizes to the winners. This was followed by blessing of the new grains by Rev.Fr Ashwin Cardoza. The Valedictory programme was compered by Johnson Dsouza , Vamanjoor.

After the Valedictory programme all the youth along with the guests joined for the delicious and traditional dinner prepared by all the units of ICYM City Deanery.
Around 220 youth from ICYM City Deanery actively participated in this event. The event concluded with the ICYM Anthem.
