Moodbidri, March 12 : On March 10th, 2024, the Sri Mandali of Corpus Christi Church orchestrated a vibrant celebration in honor of International Women’s Day, commencing with a poignant Holy Eucharistic celebration at 7:30 am. Women from the Sri Mandali actively participated, guiding the liturgy of the Holy Mass.

As the evening descended, the Women’s Day festivities unfolded at 6 pm, commencing with a soul-stirring invocation and a prayer dance performance dedicated to Mother Mary’s "Magnificat," presented by the women of the Sri Mandali.

Distinguished guests, including Reverend Fr. Onil D’Souza, Parish Priest of Corpus Christi Church, Mr. Vincent D’Souza, Vice President, Mr. Norbert Martis, Secretary of Corpus Christi Church, and Mrs. Celine D’Souza, 21 Commission Convenor, alongside Mrs. Ida Menezes, Warado President of Sri Mandali, and Sr. Sunita of Carmel Convent, Moodbidri, were warmly welcomed to the dais and felicitated with floral tributes by Mrs. Jacintha Monis, President of Sri Mandali.

The attendees, comprising Gurkars and association heads, were also honored with roses. Mrs. Wilma D’Souza presented the annual report of Sri Mandali for the year 2023-2024, followed by an impassioned address on women empowerment by Mr. Norbert Martis, highlighting the evolution of women’s status through history.

Mrs. Ida Menezes commended women for their resilience and strength in nurturing families, while Fr. Onil drew inspiration from biblical figures like Judith and Esther, urging women to embody bravery and lauding their sacrifices.

A special song celebrating women’s multifaceted roles, accompanied by a candle-lit display, resonated with the audience, followed by prize distributions for various games and entertaining skits performed by the women.

Expressing gratitude, Mrs. Judith Fernandes thanked all attendees for their contributions to the event's success, specifically acknowledging Miss Melba Pinto for choreographing the prayer dance and Miss Viola Mendonca for leading the women's song. Mrs. Alphonsa Monterio skillfully compered the program.

Concluding the festivities, Fr. Onil blessed the food, and a sumptuous vegetarian feast was served, fostering camaraderie and celebration amongst all present. The event served as a testament to the resilience, strength, and achievements of women in society.
