Mangaluru, Sep 7 : Agnathon 2k23, an interschool and intercollegiate fest was held in St Agnes PU College on 7 September. The day-long fest was conducted amidst great fanfare and excitement with the mysterious and enchanting theme of ‘Jungle’. The fest was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Cine Actor, Tulu Theatre. The chief guest and the special guest Mr Shreyas Shetty, Anchor, Model, Actor were escorted to the venue by a ceremonial guard of honour.

The fest got off to a good start as it witnessed good participation from various schools and colleges. A solemn prayer song and a welcome dance abounding in colour set the tone for the day this was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries followed by the felicitation of the chief guest Mr Bhojaraj in his speech the chief guest emphasized how education is an instrument of change and is a precursor to success in any field. He went on to reminisce about his school days and how he overcame his stage fear. He underscored the significance of nurturing innate talents which could aid them in their future growth.

Mrs Lovina Aranha, Department of Commerce compered the inaugural session, Mrs Shubhavani welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest and special guest. The student president Prival DSouza proposed the vote of thanks.

The valedictory of the fest was presided over by Mr P Shreedhar, Asst. Conservator of Forests, Mangalore Sub-division. He shared insightful thoughts on why the theme of jungle is important in the current context due to the adverse climatic conditions and spoke on the need to safeguard the environment. He urged the students to plant a sapling on their birthdays to conserve the planet for posterity Mrs Avitha DSouza Dept. of Psychology welcomed the audience and introduced the guest of honour. Mrs Pramila DSouza, Department of English was the emcee on the occasion, Ms Gauthami rendered the vote of thanks.

The fest was chock-a-block with several exciting competitions like Agno Star, Quizzee Bee Buzz, Spring Gala, Aquanatura, Forest Frenzy, Madhurima, Kaleidoscope, Jungle Jamboree.

Dr Sr Maria Roopa AC, Joint Secretary, St Agnes Group of institutions, Principal Sr Norine DSouza, Vice Principal Sr Janet Sequeira, Mrs Shubhavani, Mrs Avitha, the Convenors, the faculty, students, PTA Vice President Prof. Joselyn Lobo, Joint Secretary Dr DivyaDamodhar, Student President and Vice President Ms Prival and Ms KhathijaNoha respectively were an integral part of the occasion.

Mount Carmel Central School won the Runners Up trophy and Sharada Vidyalaya won the prestigious Overall Championship at the high school level. 

St Aloysius PU College garnered the Runners Up trophy while Mount Carmel Central School won the impressive Overall Championship.
