Chitradurga : Our Lady of Assumption Church Hiriyur celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Chitradurga, Feb 12 : Our Lady of Assumption Church , Hiriyur belonging to Chitradurga District in the Diocese of Shimoga, celebrated the feast of the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes on 11th February 2021.

Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza led the two days' novena on 9th & 10th February. On 11th February, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Nelson D'Souza celebrated festal Holy Eucharist and preached a meaningful homily on 'Fratelli Tutti' Pope Francis' third encyclical on fraternity and social friendship which was published on 4th October 2020. He beautifully connected it to Mother Mary and asked all of us to be like her.

After the Holy Eucharist , Fr Franklin D'Souza blessed the chariot decorated with flowers of Mother Mary. Candle light procession together with rosary was organized within the campus. At the end of the procession, Fr Franklin D'Souza gave the benediction and blessed the parishioners.

Parish Priest Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked everyone. Meals were served for all.
