Mangaluru , Mar 10 : Psychology Forum of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya here, in collaboration with Women’s Cell organised Women’s Day celebration on March 9, 2020. The Chief Guest was Ms Sanchia Nazareth, renowned Event Planner based in Mangaluru. The unique inauguration, the Chief Guest’s message and a programme depicting women’s issues were the highlights. An Exhibition related to Psychology and women’s issues covering aspects of health, women psychologists, gender issues was organized through posters explained by the I BA students. The programme was compered by Ms Akshaya D. Kini.
The Chief Guest began by quoting Faye D’Souza’s words, “ Don’t ask us if we are planning babies in job interviews. Don’t call us sluts or Behenjis based on our clothes. Don’t hire men with histories of sexual harassment.” She extended an invitation to the young budding minds to intern to exhibit their talents and also assured safety at her company. She ended with a quote by William Golding.
One of the highlights was a tableau depicting the various roles of a woman, followed by a vocal rendition of the Fight Song by Ms. Shravya. M. H, and it’s depiction in contemporary dance form by Aysha Meyza and Hensita D’Costa. This programme was led by Ms. Nashma Khatija and it culminated in spoken poetry on issues of body shaming and self acceptance.
The Principal Dr Juliet C.J., Vice Principal Dr Jenis Mary, Secretary of the Institute of Social Service Ms Eveleen Benis, Associate Professor Sandra S. Lobo, Head, Department of Psychology, Guest Faculty Ms Verina Joshna, Professor Shobhana N, Dean (BA), faculty of UG and PG programmes were amongst the audience.
