Mangaluru, Feb 22 : "Scouting rises within you and inspires you to put forth your best".

Making the world a better place is Girl Scout Law, Each February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides across 150 countries celebrate World Thinking Day. It’s a day of international friendship and a time to stand up for causes that could improve the lives of girls around the globe.

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which you—as a Girl Scout—are part of, has celebrated World Thinking Day since 1926. In 2022, the theme is “Our World: Our Equal Future: The Environment and Gender Equality.”

The World Thinking Day was observed in St Agnes CBSE school with much zeal and enthusiasm. The girl scouts along with their captains put up a beautiful and meaningful programme to mark the importance of the day. The dignitaries were the Chief Guest Mrs Dimple Quadras teacher ST Agnes State High School Mangalore, Joint Secretary of the institution Sr. Dr Lydia Fernandes AC, the School Administrator Sr Edna Furtado AC, the Principal Sr Maria Gracilda AC, Vice Principal Sr Marina D’Cunha AC and Academic Coordinator Sr. Sweedal Fernandes AC.

The programme began with guides standing at the entrance of the school to create awareness on road safety followed by escorting the dignitaries to the venue and a meaningful prayer service by the guides. Shaina Rebello of grade X welcomed the gathering. The importance of the day was shared by Vibha of grade IX. The importance of guiding movement was depicted through a skit. Patriotic songs were presented by the guides. A mesmerising dance was performed to add colour to this wonderful day.

A PowerPoint presentation on service work done by students was highlighted.

The guides who had completed their Rajyapuraskar were honoured.

The chief guest in her message congratulated the guides for their beautiful work and encouraged them to keep up the good work. The Joint secretary too shared her experience as a guide and advised the guides to always live by the motto. The school principal too wished the guides and their captains a fruitful day and encouraged more students to join the guides. The programme came to a closure with prayer of faith and rally on road safety by the guides.

The programme was hosted by Jea D’Souza and Glaval Pinto. The programme was a joint effort of the captains and guides. The vote of thanks was given by Bryanna D’Souza thanking everyone for making this day meaningful with their wholehearted participation.

The management extends its choicest wishes to all guides and the captains on this wonderful day.
