Location :
St. Sebastian Church, Thokur is situated in a beautiful place called Thokur which is approximately 10Kms from the Mangalore City and 5 Kms from Kulur via MSEZ corridor. Thokur is located on the banks of Gurupur River.
History :
Thokur was a sub-station of Pezar parish. Mr Domnic Rosario D’Souza donated some land and Fr Norbert D’Souza of Pezar purchased the land next to it for the church, a total of 42 cents of land. Fr Norbert D’Souza constructed the church building which was inaugurated on May 10, 1989.
Since there was no presbytery at Thokur, it was served from Pezar. Thokur became a parish on May 28, 2000, after the completion of the presbytery. Fr Francis D’Souza was the first parish priest here.
Fr Sebastian (Sabas) Fernandes, the parish priest of Pezar started St Sebastian's Higher Primary School in 1933.
