May 30, 2026 : The Chaldean Catholic Church celebrated a historic day on Friday, May 29, 2026 with the installation of His Beatitude Mar Polis III Nona as Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baghdad, Iraq.
Faithful from around the world joined in prayer as bishops, clergy, religious, and laity gathered to witness the solemn installation ceremony and to pray for the new Patriarch as he begins his ministry leading the Chaldean Church.
Archbishop Amel Nona was elected as the new Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church on April 12. The appointment took place in the context of the Synod of the Chaldean Church of Baghdad, gathered in Rome from April 9 to 15, following the resignation of Cardinal Louis Raphaël Sako.
