St Antony Church at Kandlur was under the authority of St Philip Neri Church Basrur and was functioning as a prayer center. On June 10, 2016, it was declared as a separate parish by the Udupi Diocese. 54 families are living under this parish. The present church building was enough for only 75 people to pray. More than 120 people attend church services here. Keeping in mind the space constraint, it was decided to build a new, well-equipped building at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
Accordingly, the foundation stone was laid on Saturday, August 24, 2019 by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese. Vicar vara of Kundapur zone Fr Stany Tauro, parish priest of Kandlur church Canute Barboza, Kerekatte church director Xavier Pinto and parish priest of St Philip Neri church Basrur Charles Noronha and others were present.
