Fajir, July 22 : ICYM Fajir Unit in collaboration with Stree Sanghatan unit organized a day's programme titled “Krishe Kushim Amchem Met” on 14th July 2019 in the fields of Mr. Walter Dsouza from Konaje 2nd ward of Fajir parish.

The programme commenced with a prayer song led by ICYM members. Preetham Joyson Dsouza – President, ICYM Fajir unit welcomed the gathering. Rev. Fr Sunil Veigas – Parish Priest, Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fajir / Director, ICYM Fajir unit presided over the programme along with the Chief guest Mr. Leon Loyd Saldanha, Bendur – Diocesan Youth President and Ms. Veena Vas, Shakthinagar – Diocesan General Secretary, ICYM Central Council, Mangalore Diocese. Mr. Kishore Dsouza, President and Ms. Jovita Dsouza – Secretary, ICYM St. Joseph Vaz Mangalore South Deanary, Mr.Roshan Dsouza - Vice President, Fajir parish pastoral council, Mrs. Irine Lobo – President, Stree Sanghatan Fajir Unit, Mr. Lawrence Dsouza - Ward Gurkar, Konaje 2nd ward, Mr.Walter Dsouza and Mrs Irine Dsouza - Owners of the field were the dignitaries of the programme.

Mr.Roshan Dsouza, spoke about the present situation of agricultural activities and explained his own experience regarding cultivation of Paddy in his own field. He appreciated the initiative taken by the ICYM members of Fajir unit.

Mr. Kishore Dsouza addressed the gathering and said the programme will definitely make a positive impact on the Youths interest towards agriculture.

Chief Guest Mr. Leon Loyd Saldanha in his address said it’s my first programme after being elected as the president of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, I am cherished with my childhood days to watch the green nature and the agricultural activities undertaken here and I congratulate ICYM Fajir unit for organising this unique programme. Meanwhile, he shared his love and affection towards the nature. He enjoyed the beauty of the green nature which he misses out being in the city.

Rev. Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas addressed the gathering by saying the step under taken by ICYM should inspire many to take similar steps and it should emerge as a revolution in the entire diocese. Anisha Asuntha Monteiro – Secretary, ICYM Fajir Unit rendered the vote of thanks. Preetham Joyson Dsouza handed over the token of love and gratitude to the guests. Ms. Violla Lobo compered the programme. Baby Jiyona’s 2ndyear Birthdaycelebration was celebrated at the end of the formal programme. The formal programme was concluded by singing ICYM Anthem.

Rev. Fr Sunil Joseph Veigas, Chief Guest Mr.Leon Loyd Saldanha and other dignitaries inaugurated the programme by planting the paddy saplings in the field by wearing traditional cap (Kandi). All the ICYM members, Stri Sanghatan members and parishioners planted the paddy in the fields. A total of 75 members were present to plant the paddy. In spite of continuous rain, the Youths worked hard and were greatly appreciated. At the end, All the members of ICYM and Stri Sanghatan enjoyed the programme and learned how to plant the paddy.
