Mangaluru, Sep 26 : On the occasion of the Anti-Drug campaign initiative of Mangalore Diocese, the ICYM unit of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Nithyadar Nagar organised "Yuva Ekthar" event on September 17, 2023.

The program started with an Eucharistic celebration At 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast. The stage program commenced with a warm welcome by ICYM Nithyadar Unit President Tina Dsilva, to the dignitaries and the assembled gathering.

The official inauguration was done by adding rice to a pot symbolizing 7 virtues of the Holy Spirit by parish priest Rev. Fr Anthony Lasrado, Parish council vice president John Montiero, Parish Council Member Maria Coelho, Nithyadar school Principal Sr. Pramila Rodrigues, ICYM Animator Vivian Dsilva, ICYM South Deanery president Jevita Ferrao, ICYM Nithyadar President Tina Dsilva and ICYM Nithyadar secretary Princita Dsouza.

Rev. Fr. Anthony Lasrado inaugurated the program by lighting the Candle assisted by the dignitaries on the dais, setting a symbolic tone for the day. Subsequently, he delivered a valuable address, imparting insightful wisdom.

The stage program concluded with Princita Dsouza, the Secretary of the ICYM Nithyadar Unit, delivering a heartfelt vote of thanks to express gratitude to all the attendees and contributors.

Following the stage program, the first session was engaged by Dr. Caroline Dsouza, regarding Mental health, mobile and drug addiction, and offering practical approaches to overcoming these challenges.

The second session was taken by Inspector Sandeep G S, from Ullal police station, he spoke about the drug types and addiction in youth, and what charges a person faces for selling and consuming drugs.

Post the talks, Group games were conducted. The Youth were divided into four groups to boost teamwork and interaction.

In the end, the youth shared their experiences of the session and the program concluded at 1 p.m. with an afternoon lunch.
