Bantwal, Sep 17 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement(ICYM) Nainad unit conducted 'Gadhyanth Gammath 2k22' for all the parishioners on Sunday, 11th September 2022 in the paddy fields of Vice President Mr. Enas Rodrigues at Hanjar at 10.00 am.

The event began with a grand procession with traditional clothing and items, from St. Francis Assisi Church Nainad to the field. ICYM members led the Prayer song. The Parish Priest and ICYM Director Rev. Dr. Rocky Fernandes, Special guest Pius L Rodrigues owner of Levin Electricals Bantwal, Sr. Monthi Dsouza Superior of St. Joseph School Nainad, Mr. Enas Rodrigues Vice President and Mrs. Pramitha Rodrigues Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, ICYM animator Mr. Avil Moras and President Jaison Rodrigues were present on the dais.

The ICYM President Jaison Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. The event was inaugurated by cutting the ribbon. The guests delivered their speech regarding the event. The Special guest Pius L Rodrigues handed mementos to the parish farmers. ICYM Mangalore Diocese Director Rev Fr. Aswin Cardoza, Vice President Winston Joel Sequeira and ICYM Belthangady Deanery President Prakash Dsouza showed their presence in the event. Guests were honoured with mementos by ICYM President Jaison Rodrigues.

‘Kambala Race Events’ championship pair ‘Dhuja and Hemurde’, Padav Kanadka were the special attraction of the event. They also honoured Mr. Dolphy Dsouza owner of these championship pair. They conducted Tug of War for the General Public, 16 teams were presented for this game. 1st Prize winners Friends Perde B Team and 2nd Prize winners Friends Nainad, were awarded with cash prizes and trophies.

Tablo competition was conducted for the 6 wards of the Parish, team was ‘Adhli Krushi Samskruthi’. In this competition 1st prize went to Assisi ward, 2nd prize to Saib Salvodhor ward, 3rd prize to Joseph ward, all were awarded with trophies. Various games were played for the parishioners like 200 mtr race, 100 mtr race, ball passing, backward race, coconut throw, volleyball for boys, throwball for girls, 3 legged race, tug of war etc. Winners were awarded with medals.

In the closing ceremony, referees, sponsors and also the field owners were honoured with mementos. St. Joseph ward clinched the overall championship shield. ICYM animator Avil Moras and ICYM member Roydan Lasrado hosted the event. All had a great time and it was a big and unforgettable day for them.
