Bajpe, Sep 18, 2023 : ICYM Bajpe unit organized the inter-ward competition ‘Mariyaal Bhaktik Gitam Spardho’ on Sunday, 10th September, at St Joseph Church Hall.

Present at the event were Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Ozmond Roshan D’Souza, Chaplain of St. John Paul II Shrine Bajpe, Fr. Anil D’Souza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice-President Mr. Stany D’Souza, Secretary Mrs. Gracy Sequeira, ICYM President Mr. Glevin D’Souza, Secretary Ms. Melria Saldanha, and Cultural Secretary Ms. Jean Pinto, along with the parishioners.

The event commenced with a prayer ceremony led by the ICYM members, followed by the competition, which started with the kids’ category. Fr. Jayaprakash D’Souza, Mr. Alwyn D’Cunha, and Mr. Elton Martin Ferrao served as judges for the event.

This was followed by a formal program and prize distribution ceremony. The ICYM President, Mr. Glevin D’Souza, welcomed the gathering. Fr. Anil D’Souza delivered his message and quoted St. Augustine’s words, “One who sings, prays twice.” Ms. Jean Pinto and Ms. Carol Lobo announced the results. Ms. Jean Pinto, the Cultural Secretary of ICYM Bajpe proposed the vote of thanks. Ms.Melita Pinto compered the event.

The event saw commendable participation from parishioners of various age groups and categories. There were approximately 90 solo participants in 9 different categories and 10 groups. Several participants competed fiercely and won various prizes. St. Lawrence 2 ward emerged as the Overall Champions of the event.
