Mangaluru, June 5 : The Catechism inauguration for the year 2023 -24 at St Joseph the Worker's Church, Neermarga witnessed a momentous occasion was held on Sunday the 4th of June in the presence of a large gathering of children, parents and parishioners with due solemnity and enthusiasm.

Under the guidance of Fr. Paul Pinto, the parish priest, Mrs.Benedicta Machado, the catechism coordinator and with the support of teachers, the ceremony commenced with a symbolic act.

Two children with flower plants in their hands and their parents with Holy Bible, other children with placards displaying "Catechism inspires good family life" in their hands, along with their Catechism teachers marched in procession and lined up facing the Altar.

As a symbol of the great role the parents play in Catechism and acquainting the children with Biblical knowledge, while the parents with the Bible placed their hands on the shoulders of their children, Fr. Paul Pinto, parish priest, poured water to the plants held by children, thus marking the onset of the new catechism year.

This gesture emphasized the significance of parental involvement in nurturing religious values in the younger generation.

The parish priest in his homily drove home the point "Holy Trinity represents love and unity and we must build our personal relationships in accordance with Holy Trinity".

The enchanting tunes emanated from the children choir led by Sir Arun D’Souza, added to the sanctity of High Mass.

All participated in the holy mass and Eucharistic adoration.

It was a day filled with reverence, devotion and a renewed commitment to instilling strong faith foundations in the young minds of the parish.
