Mangaluru , Nov 25 : ICYM Bejai unit  conducted the "Bejai Badminton League 2k21" on 21st November 2021 , at Father Muller's Indoor Stadium. The event began with registration followed by inauguration at 8:30 am.

The guests for the day were : Fr J.B. Saldanha - Parish Priest of Bejai, Fr Ashwin Cardoza - Diocesan ICYM Director, Sanjay Dsouza - ICYM ECD President, Teena Pashao - ICYM ECD Secretary, Sr Cecelia Crasta and Mr Rohan sequiera - ICYM Bejai Animators, Mr. Ashok Pinto -Vice president of Parish Pastoral Council and Mrs.Preethi Gomes - Secretary, Sr Severine Crasta - Superior St.Angela convent, Ms. Shiny Lewis - Bejai ICYM President and Deniel Dsouza - Bejai ICYM Sports Secretary. 

The prayer song was sung by ICYM Members Arel and Alma. Ms. Shiny Lewis welcomed the gathering after which the guests on the dais spoke a few words about the event. The badminton league was inaugurated by the guests by playing badminton. 

There were matches with several categories. They were:
Men's Singles category : 8-17, 18-40, 41+,
Men's doubles,  Women's singles  and Women's doubles. 

6 referees were called to help out in the league's scoring. The league ended at 1pm. A token of appreciation was handed over to the referees and the winners were rewarded with a trophy, medal and a cash prize which were distributed by Fr. Anush. The list was announced by Carol  -ICYM Bejai Secretary. Fr. Ronson - ICYM ECD Director, Fr. Robert Dsouza - Principal of Lourdes Central School and Fr. Vishwas Misquith - former Asst. Parish priest of Bejai were also present for the event. 

The league ended with a group photo of the winners and ICYM Members. The MC for the day was Arel Dsouza - ICYM Bejai Cultural Secretary and the vote of thanks was given by Deniel Dsouza - ICYM Bejai Sports Secretary.

8-17 category:
First place- Immanuel Furtado
Second place- Lawrence Mathais

18-40 category:
First place- Aldrich D'Souza
Second place- Aaron Mascarenhas 

41+ category:
First place- Mr. Thomas
Second place- Fr. Robert D'Souza

Men's doubles:
First place-Mr. Anil and Mr Gregory
Second place- Mr. Vivin and Dino

Women's singles:
First place- Ania Mascarenhas
Second place- Grishal Fernandes

Women's doubles:
First place Mrs Lolita Mascarenhas and Ms. Adora Mascarenhas
Second place- Mrs Averyl Rodrigues and Mrs Mable Menezes
