Mangaluru, Sep 9 , 2023 : The Monthi Feast celebration in St Sebastian Church Bendur on September 8th at 6:00 PM, was a heart warming and spiritually enriching event that brought together members of the parish to mark this special occasion. The evening commenced with a mesmerizing prayer dance performance by Reenal, Alisha, Aileen, Priyal, and Renisha. Their graceful and reverent dance set a spiritual tone for the gathering, invoking blessings for the festivities. Mr. Vinod Dsouza, Vice President of the PPC, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. V. Rev. Fr. Vincent Monteiro, the Parish Priest, delivered a heartfelt message regarding the significance of the Monthi Feast. He also expressed his gratitude to the parishioners for their support.

Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo conducted a solemn prayer service and blessed the newly harvested corn, an integral part of the Monthi Feast tradition. The Parish Priest mixed the blessed corn with vorne and distributed it to the ward gurkars, symbolizing the sharing of the first fruits of the harvest. Following the traditional mixing of corn, the ward gurkars and members of the CAL distributed the blessed corn to the enthusiastic audience, reinforcing the spirit of sharing and togetherness.

The event also featured the recognition of the top-performing students in the PUC and SSLC examinations. These accomplished students were applauded for their dedication and excellence in academics. Under the Peter Noronha Education Trust, scholarships were presented to meritorious students, further emphasizing the community's commitment to education and empowering young talents.

Mrs. Lydia Lobo, administrator LINK Integrated rehabilitation center Bajal delivered an insightful talk on the perils of drug abuse and its detrimental effects on families. Her presentation shed light on the importance of raising awareness and addressing this critical societal issue. CAL members presented a compelling drama on drug awareness, a script penned by Mr. Deepak Dsouza and directed by Mrs. Jyothi Dsouza. The drama served as a powerful medium to convey the message of the dangers of drug addiction and the need for collective action to combat it. PPC Secretary Mrs. Patsy Britto expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and attendees for their invaluable contributions in making the event a resounding success. Her words underscored the significance of community support and collaboration.

Mrs. Jasmine Saritha Vas, the MC for the program, skilfully guided the audience through the evening's proceedings, ensuring a seamless flow of events and engaging the attendees with her lively commentary. The Monthi Feast celebration on September 8th was a beautiful amalgamation of spirituality, tradition, education, and social consciousness. The event concluded with a sense of unity and purpose, as attendees continued to celebrate the feast with joy and devotion in their hearts.
