Parish Priest of St Ignatius Loyola Church Paladka, Rev Fr Oswald Lasrado (1978 - 1985) built a Chapel in Sampige to facilitate and accommodate the Catholics of Kallamundkur , Sampige and Ashwathapura areas, on the land donated by Mrs Florine Dsilva. Fr Oswald started Sunday services in the Chapel. After some time, the Chapel's administration was later handed over to Niddodi parish.
The Chapel was raised to the status of a parish in 1990 by the decree of Mangalore Bishop Basil S Dsouza.
The Holy Spirit Church Sampige celebrated the Silver Jubilee of its existence on May 27, 2015. Mangalore Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza was the main celebrant of the thanksgiving mass whereas Dean of Moodbidri Deanery Rev Fr Austin Peres , parish priest Rev Fr Apolinaris Crasta and many other priests concelebrated.
The mass was followed by stage programme and felicitations. Large number of faithful witnessed the programme.
