Moodbidri, Sep 13 : To raise awareness about drug abuse, Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Hospet Unit in collaboration with Catholic Sabha Hospet, Family Commission, Health Commission, Education Commission, Youth Commission and Social & Media Commission organized ‘Uthrovni’ - a Anti-Drug Awareness programme for the parishioners, on 3rd September 2023 at 9.45 AM at Hospet church hall.

Programme began with a prayer service led by ICYM Hospet unit members. Nikhil Jason Correa welcomed the gathering. Rev Fr Gregory D’Souza - Parish Priest of Holy Cross Church Hospet inaugurated the programme along with Lydia Lobo - Administrator of Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, Bajal; Manohar Cutinha - Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Hospet; Vincent Santhmayor - Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Hospet; Laveena Pinto - 21 Commissions Co-ordinator; Francis Goveas - Convener of Education Commission and Health Commission; Denis Fernandes - Convener of Family Commission and Youth Commission; Prajwal Tellis - Convener of Social & Media Commission; Vikas Sequeira - President of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (Reg.), Hospet Unit; Selwin Jude Colaco, Denis Fernandes, Leena Tellis - Animators of ICYM Unit.

During the programme, Lydia Lobo, the Administrator of Link Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts, Bajal, addressed the gathering. She imparted her insightful knowledge and experiences related to drug abuse cases. She also emphasized the devastating consequences of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities and her address provided real-world examples and stories that underscored the importance of drug awareness and prevention.

Around 200 parishioners took part in this programme.
