Mangaluru, Dec 7 : Spandana Trust, Infant Mary’s Convent, celebrated its 52nd Annual day and Christmas celebration on 6th December 2023 at 4.30p.m at the campus of Infant Mary’s Convent. There were about 2000 people gathered from in and around Mangalore. Women of Self-Help Group and their family members were very happy to be a part of the programme. The Trust works for the empowerment of women through the SHGs. There are about 200 SHGs who are catered by the Trust. Many of the people have come up with self-employment and other schemes of development. About 1000 are helped for the education through the Trust irrespective of caste and creed. They performed many cultural and entertainment programmes at the occasion.

Rev. Sr. Sylvia Fernandes Superior of Infant Mary’s Convent was the President of the programme. She in her presidential address said that the Spandana trust has concern about the poor and needy children, women and the family at large. She said it is the trust that gives Christ to the people whom they cater through their selfless service.

Dr. Sydney Dsouza, Professor general medicine Yenepoya Medical college was the chief guest and praised the work that the trust is doing for the economically backward people.

Rev. Fr. Vincent Dsouza, Director CODP, Mangalore, had imparted Christmas message and said that the Trust is doing yeomen service to humanity especially the downtrodden and of economically weaker section. He said the trust is following the footsteps of saints Bartolomea and Vincenza Gerosa, who are the founders of Sisters of Charity.

Sr. Helen Fernandes, Administrator, Spandana Trust, was honoured on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee of her Religious life.
