Abu Dhabi, July 16 : The Konkan community of St. Paul’s Catholic Church Mussafah, Abu Dhabi celebrated their Second Anniversary with a great fervor on 14th of July 2017. The celebration began with Holy Mass at 6 pm and the main celebrant was Rev. Fr. Maxim Cardoza and the co-celebrant was Rev. Fr. Ashok Gonsalves, Spiritual Director, St. Paul’s Konkani community, Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. A large number of faithful attended the 2nd Anniversary thanksgiving Mass.

The Cultural Programme started immediately after the Holy mass and program coordinator, Mr. Lawrence Rudolf D’Souza introduced the programme. Mrs. Veeda D’Lima anchored the program very well. The Programme began with Prayer dance performed by Riona, Rishona and Serra. The Coordinator of the community, Mr. Robert Pinto welcomed the Priests Rev. Fr. Ashok Gonsalves, and Rev. Fr. Maxim Cardoza and the guest of honors M/s. Benedict Pinto, Robert D’Souza, Joel Crasta, Lancy D’Souza and Steven Lobo for felicitation. Flower Bouquets were given to them as token of love and gratitude.

After the prayer, we had lighting of the lamp ceremony by all Priests, Guests of Honor and all members of Apex Team. A special Anniversary cake was cut in commemoration of this event. Mr. John D’Lima, Treasurer of the Apex Team gave a detailed Annual Report where he highlighted all activities that have taken place during the last one year.

It was a very proud moment for all the members of Konkani community at Mussafah to felicitate 4 of their Parish children who have passed out 10th and 12th grade exams with a certificate and Momentum. The recipients of these felicitations are: Josvin Preetham Lobo- 12th grade, Suzan Matilda Azaredo-10th grade, Samson Eddie D’Souza -10th grade and Rhea Tanya Tauro- 10th grade. Konkani community also felicitated with Momentum to Joel Crasta, M/s. Broadway Event Management and Mr. Sunil Pinto of M/s. News Karnataka for their incessant support for the Konkani community, Mussafah.

The anniversary theme song with the lyrics by Mr. Suresh Saldanha and composed by Mr. Ashwin Dias was performed. People have given them a loud applause for this song.

The skit –Keppachi Kestavaa (tragedy of the deaf) which is written by Late J.B. D’Souza, Kulshekar and Directed by Mr. Roshan D’Mello. The skit was performed by Jossie Pinto, Sumitha D’Souza, Vincent D’Souza and Melwyn Codero. This humorous skit kept the people laughing through out the period and was very well accepted by the audience. Audience gave them a very loud rousing round of applause for their performance.

The Bollywood dance by our kids –Rishona, Natasha, Serra, Riona and Roydon made the audience to tap their feet. This was a scintillating performance by our kids where they have given a loud rousing applause. There were a few spot games for children, as well as for adults. Thus the Compare, kept the audience very busy with her humor during the programme.

A vote of thanks was given by Apex team Liturgy Coordinator Mr. Robert Cardin and he thanked all people for their continued support and also appealed the same for their future events. He also appealed the people to come forward with constructive suggestion for the improvement and betterment of the community. The grace over the food was prayed by Fr. Maxim. The specialty of the meal was Traditional preparation of pork which was a delicacy enjoyed by all along with the other dishes.

The baila dance for all made the people to come and dance. The program ended with singing laudate domino by the all.

It was a memorable evening enjoyed and cherished by all.
