Oct 21, 2025 : Pope Leo XIV raised seven men and women to the honors of the altar on Sunday the 19th October 2025, as the Church celebrated World Mission Sunday.

During Mass in St. Peter’s Square before a crowd of approximately 70,000 faithful, the Pope proclaimed these seven Blesseds to be canonized Saints in the Catholic Church: Ignatius Choukrallah Maloyan, Peter To Rot, Vincenza Maria Poloni, Maria del Monte Carmelo Rendiles Martínez, Maria Troncatti, José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, and Bartolo Longo.

In his homily, Pope Leo emphasized their authentic witness to the faith, stating that through God's grace, they became lamps shining with the light of Christ.

This celebration highlights the Church’s diverse path to sainthood — from martyrs and missionaries to laypeople and religious — all living examples of faith and the call to holiness.
