Udupi, June 18 : An orientation program for the Young Catholic Students (YCS) was held with the joyful participation of YCS members and their parents. The programme was conducted on 15th June 2025 at Ave Maria hall, Mother of Sorrows church, Udupi from 08:30 to 11:15 a.m. The aim of the program was to introduce the movement, build fellowship, and inspire both youth and parents through sharing, learning, and interaction.
The event began with a prayer song, setting a reverent and spiritual atmosphere.
This was followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Calista Dsouza (The President of the YCS Udupi Unit) who warmly welcomed everyone and expressed hope for an enriching session. Mr. Arul Dsilva (The Vice President) then took charge as the Emcee, guiding the rest of the program smoothly.

To energize the gathering, a lively action song was led by the YCS members, creating a joyful and participative vibe.
Following this, Fr. Vijay Dsouza ( YCS Spiritual Advisor) delivered a brief and informative talk introducing the YCS movement and the importance of youth involvement in faith and community-building.
Another round of action songs brought the group together again in cheerful spirit, keeping the atmosphere interactive and light-hearted.
Next was the experience-sharing session, where Ms. Jeshma Dsouza (Dexco Cultural and Liturgy Incharge) and Mr. Aron Dsouza (Former Udupi Deanery President) shared their personal journeys and heartfelt experiences, reflecting on the positive impact YCS has had on their lives. Their sharing was deeply inspiring and relatable. After them, two parents also came forward to speak about the positive changes they observed in their children due to their involvement in YCS, highlighting the program’s influence on values, confidence, and personal growth.
Fr. Leo Praveen Dsouza (The Assistant Parish Priest) then led a brief and engaging session, offering further insights into the YCS structure, its significance, and its role in shaping today’s youth.
Participants were then divided into groups for case study discussions, allowing them to apply the “See, Judge, Act” methodology to practical scenarios while encouraging teamwork and critical thinking.
The program concluded with a sincere vote of thanks by Mr. Lemuel Dsouza (The Secretary) who expressed gratitude to all—priests, YCS animators, parents, and YCS members—for their time, presence, and wholehearted participation. The event ended with the YCS anthem, YCS Claps, and a group photo.
