Mangaluru, May 10 : It was a rare and special event when 28 sisters of Bethany congregation celebrated the golden jubilee of their religious profession at Bethany convent in city on Monday, May 9, 2016.

The thanksgiving Eucharistic Sacrifice was officiated by Dr Aloysius Paul D’ Souza, the bishop of Mangalore diocese.

During the homily the bishop expressed his deep appreciation for their generous service all over the country and abroad throughout the past 50 years of their religious life. “You have become gold; you are the precious treasures of God.” He said.

The bishop expressed his joy seeing their ever fresh and joyous spirit in spite of their 50 years of service. He also expressed his appreciation for Bethany congregation which is an indigenous congregation and articulated his thankfulness for the support of the congregation to the diocese of Mangaluru in a special manner.

During the felicitation programme that followed Sr Rose Celine, the superior general offered flowers to each of the jubilarians.
