Mangaluru, June 5, 2021 : The whole universe is groaning in the second wave of Covid 19, and in chaos, each and every human person is confused, in fear, anxiety, stress, tension and worry, young and old, rich and poor, healthy and sick, even the little children are in utter confusion not knowing how to manage the crisis resulted during the pandemic especially during the 2nd wave of Covid-19. Infected and affected by Covid-19 struggle to meet daily necessities of life and lead a normal life.  

Ursuline Franciscan Congregation, Mangalore Province has a Social Action center in the vicinity of Rosario Cathedral and the sisters and other Lay staff who are working there reach to almost all the districts of Karnataka as they aim towards the care and protection of Child Rights.

At this juncture of pandemic and misery the staff of Shanthi Sandesha Resource and Development Centre on Child Rights under the leadership and initiatives of the Director Sr. Dulcine Crasta reached out to the poor and needy people at the remotest villages of Belthangady and Bantwal Taluk with provision kits. The Provision kits contained rice, sugar, tea powder, jaggery, bitten rice, green gram, 'Kadle', oil, chilly powder and rava etc. Especially in Belthangady Taluk, Nalkuru Grama 40 families infected with Covid-19 and in Bantwal 45 families of the island at Pavooru Uliya Kudru were provided with the provision kit on 27th and 30th May, 2021. Families were very happy and grateful for the same.

Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association (UFLA) and the Sisters of St. Ursula Convent Bolar

Members of Ursuline Franciscan Lay Association of Bolar unit expressed their generosity to reach out the needy and poor population in Rosario Cathedral Parish locality to provide survival kits with necessary grocery items for 71 families of Pandeshwar, Hoige Bazaar, Mangalaadevi, Bengare, Bolar and Mulihithalu.  Through the initiative of Sr. Celine DSa the animator of UFLA Bolar unit and Mr. Antony D’Silva, UFLA member and the guidance of Mr. Cyril Rosario, President of St. Vincent De Paul Society, families were selected. The families were invited to St. Ursula’s campus on 24th May in the presence of Rosario Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Alfred J Pinto, UFLA President Mr. Dolphy D’Souza, UFLA members, Mr. Cyril Rosario - SVP President, Sr. Sunitha Fernandes – Superior and all the Sisters of St. Ursula Convent , survival kits were distributed to the families.  There are many more families who are waiting for some saviours to come and rescue them, may the Lord continue to inspire the kind hearted people to help these needy people.
