Mangalore, Dec 14, 2011 : "We run institutions not for profits but to prepare students to face every new challenge in the society," said Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.

He was delivering the presidential address at the golden jubilee celebrations of St Mary’s English Higher Primary School, here on Wednesday December 14.

He further said that St Mary's school management is doing an excellent job in molding the young and tender minds.

"Besides curriculum, moral, spiritual and physical education are also essential," he said, and lauded the staff and management for imparting these values among children.

Philomena Lobo, joint director and principal CTE advised the parents to help children grow in an environment of freedom with responsibility.

Dr C P Habeeb Rehman said that the entire humanity is one big family, and that education is important to teach values to people. 'My wife, children I are products of Christian institution," he said, adding, "May good teaching illuminate the lives of many."

Sr Silvian, the headmistress of the institution was felicitated for her contributions and innovative ideas towards the growth of the institution and the betterment of its students. As a token of gratitude she was honoured with a garland, a shawl and a memento.

Mayor Praveen, Sr Linette, Provincial Superior, Karnataka Province, Ivan D’Souza, Sr Edna Furtado, Suresh Babu, Dayavati, Derek Lobo, Yogesh K Devadiga and others were present.
