Mangaluru, Nov 16, 2017 : St Sebastian Church Permannur, as a mark of its centenary jubilee programme on November 12, organized organized 'Bhurganso Dabajo' (Children's Day). Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Permannur took the lead in organizing this day long programme beginning with a eucharistic celebration at 9.00 am. All the children of the parish were specially prayed for. Fr Robert D’Souza presided over the holy eucharistic.

After the thanksgiving and eucharist celebration, variety games for the children were conducted which witnessed a cheerful participation by all the students.

In the afternoon a special chldren's programme ‘Permannur Kuvar and Permmannur Kuvarn’ (Permannur Prince and Permannur Princess) was held wherein 23 angelic kids participated in the competition. Juliet Rodrigues, Bejai, Lancy Rodrigues, Ammembal and Laila Jyothy D’Souza, Mudipu were the judges for the day. Fr Stany Pinto was the anchor for the programme and Sharel Tellis organized the programme. Aaron Jovil Veigas was crowned Permmannur Kuvar and Rishona Maria D’Souza was crowned was crowned Permmannur Kuvarn.

At 6.00 pm was a children's cultural fest. On the dais Fr J B Saldanha parish priest, Sweedal D’Souza representing the children as president of the programme, Fr Robert D’Souza, principal Lourdes Central School Bejai, Linet Castelino police officer Nithyadar parish were the chief guests. Fr Felix Noronha Chaplain Nirmala Convent, Fr Stany Pinto asst director of ICYM and Fr Lizel D’Souza asst PP, Sr Carmine Misquith BS superior Bethel Convent, Sr Benny Barretto superior Aloysius Convent, Deacon Flavian Lobo, Melwyn C D’Souza vice-president and Ronald Fernandes secretary of parish pastoral council, Demetrius D’Souza and Joslin D’Souza centenary jubilee committee, Sr Severine Fernandes ICYM animator, Dycil Fernandes and Denzeeta Veigas – president and secretary of ICYM and nine student representatives were also present.

Linet Castelino encouraged the children to be more respectable to their parents and more careful about present media and society. Fr Robert D’Souza appreciated the parish priest and team for thinking about their children and guiding them in a good way. He also advised all the parents to give their time to their children. Sweedal D’Souza in her presidential speech thanked them for this opportunity. Dr J B Saldanha thanked ICYM for their efforts and encouraged the gathering to be more valuable to society.

The highlight of the inaugural was the release of balloons. Winners of the various games were honoured with prizes. The ‘Permannur Kuvar and Permmannur Kuvarn’ were crowned and participants received certificates. Dr J B Saldanha unveiled the parish phone directory during the event. Children of the parish added colour to the programme through the variety cultural programme.

Dycil Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Denzeeta Veigas thanked everyone. Ashvia, Glenna, Sweedal and Nishmitha beautifully compered the programme. The programme was witnessed by thousands of parishioners.
