Belthangady, Sep 15 : “Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the blessed Virgin Mary that she may intercede for us with our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The Nativity of Mother Mary popularly known as "Monthi Festh" was celebrated by I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery council with utmost enthusiasm by having "Novem Jevan" with the elderly couple Mr.Jockhim and Mrs.Monthi Lobo of Nala unit on 9th September 2023.

This joyous celebration began at 6pm with prayer led by Rose Priya Pinto. Fr. Walter D'mello gave sermon on the Gospel. Novem was Blessed by Fr.Bernad Rodrigues and served along with ‘Payasam’.

And like a cherry on top, the elderly grandma of the home where the feast was held, coincidentally named Monthi, also happened to be born on the same day. And so with much delight, her birthday was celebrated by cutting a cake. Another cake was cut in celebration of the birthday of Mithesh Dsouza - President of ICYM Mangalore diocese, Ivan Pinto, Rose Priya Pinto and Arvin Goveas.

Winston Sequeira and Rose Priya Pinto conducted some fun games . Followed by the traditional Festive Meal better called "Novem Jevan". This Novem Jevan consisted of 11 different delicious items cooked and brought by each unit.

Fr. Praveen D'Souza addressed all youth about the significance of Monthi feast as a family feast and how we need to consider I.C.Y.M as a family and serve the Parish and Deanery.

This occasion was graced by Fr.Walter D'mello - Vicar Forane, Belthangady deanery; Fr.Bernad Rodrigues - Parish Priest, Nala ; Fr.Praveen D'Souza - Director I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery; Mithesh D'Souza - President, I.C.Y.M Mangalore diocese ; Sushanth Fernandes- Treasurer, I.C.Y.M Manglore diocese ; Liyanna Rodrigues - Deanery Representative; and Winston Sequeira - former Deanery Rep along with I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery Council members and youth of I.C.Y.M Nala unit.

Elvin Prashanth D'cunha - President, I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery delivered vote of thanks.
