Moodbidri, June 9 : Corpus Christi Church marked the beginning of the 2024-25 Catechism classes with an inaugural ceremony during the 7:30 AM mass on June 9th, 2024. The event commenced with a solemn procession involving representatives from various groups, including students from classes 1 to 12, parents, grandparents, Reverend sisters, teachers, and the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza.

Gathering around the altar, the ceremony began with a heartfelt request from student Riona Pearl, who held a placard reading, "Lord, teach us to pray," echoing the apostles' request to Jesus. This moment underscored the communal responsibility towards the faith formation of the students.

In a symbolic act representing the parishioners' commitment, parent representatives joined hands with the Catechism students. The parish priest then handed over a copy of the Bible, while Catechism teachers presented the Catechism book and the Holy Rosary to the students. Following this, all representatives stood around the lectern and led the students in prayer, with the students repeating after them.

The Holy Eucharistic Mass continued after the inaugural ceremony. Following the homily, the newly appointed Catechism teachers took an oath, pledging their dedication to teaching the faith. The liturgy was conducted by the Catechism teachers, adding to the significance of the event.

Sr. Elena competently compered the inaugural ceremony, ensuring its smooth flow. After the mass, students were directed to their respective classes, where attendance was taken, and necessary details were recorded. Textbooks were distributed, and the students were then sent home with refreshments.

This ceremonious beginning sets a strong foundation for the Catechism program, reflecting the collective effort of the Corpus Christi Church community in nurturing the spiritual growth of its young members.
