Balkunje - Kinnigoli, Aug 31 : On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, a blood donation camp was organized on August 15, 2025, at Balkunje. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, the parish priest of St. Paul's Church, Balkunje, presided over the function.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira said, "Just like the water we drink and the air we breathe, blood is essential for life. Let's forget our cast and religious differences and come together to donate blood and live in harmony."

The blood donation camp was organized by the Earth Victims Welfare Committee, Balkunje, Ulepady, Kolluru, and Blood Help Care Karnataka (R) in collaboration with ICYM, Catholic Sabha, Women's Organization, Health Commission, Peace and Justice Commission, St. Paul's Church, Balkunje, Mohiyuddin Jumma Masjid, Karnire, Khidma Young Men's Karnire, Old Students' Association, Kolluru, Vithoba Rakhumai Bhajan Mandir, Balkunje, Rickshaw Drivers' Association, Balkunje (R), Youth Club, Ulepady, Hayathul Madrasa, and Masjid, Balkunje, and the Indian Red Cross Society Blood Bank, Mangalore.
During the camp, V Care Health and Eye Center, Mangalore, provided free eye check-ups and distributed free frames, while V Care Clinical Laboratory, Kinnigoli, offered free BP, sugar, and cholesterol tests.
The camp saw a large turnout of people from the locality, with many donors participating in the blood donation drive. The event was attended by dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira, Shri Denis D'Souza, President of the Earth Victims Welfare Committee, Shri Sansuddin, Director of Blood Help Care Karnataka (R), Dr. Pratyaksha, Dr. Nishmita, and others.
The event aimed to promote blood donation and create awareness about its importance in saving lives. The organizers and participants worked together to make the event a success, demonstrating the power of community and volunteerism.
The ICYM unit of Balkunje actively participated in the camp. Many youths of the unit donated blood.
