Kirem, Aug 27 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) unit of Our Lady of Remedies Church Kirem, organised a Blood and Hair Donation Drive on Sunday, 24th August 2025, at Bi-Centenary Hall, Kirem. The initiative was held in collaboration with ICYM St Jude Mangalore North Deanery, A.S.P.A Fitness Kinnigoli, Lions & Leo Club Kinnigoli, Father Muller's Hospital and Red Drop Mangalore.

The drive witnessed an overwhelming response as 83 people donated blood to save lives and 28 individuals, including women and youth, donated their hair under the initiative "Beautiful Lengths" by ICYM Mangalore Diocese to support cancer patients.

One of the hair donors, Shanthi Saldanha from Kirem, expressed her joy in making a difference through a simple yet meaningful act of generosity.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Oswald Monteiro, Parish Priest of Kirem, said:
"Acts of love like blood and hair donation reflect the heart of our Christian calling – to give of ourselves so that others may live with dignity and hope."

The organisers expressed gratitude to all participants, highlighting the campaign's message: "Donate Blood, Save Life. Donate Hair, Support Cancer Patients."
