Gurpur - Kaikamba, Aug 22, 2025 : The Pompei Youngsters Club ICYM and Youth Commission organized the "Konkani Manyatha Divas – Tribute to Artists 2025" programme on Sunday, August 17, after the morning Mass at the Centenary Memorial Hall of Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur - Kaikamba. The program began with coffee and snacks served in the hall.

The event was presided over by Parish Priest and Pezar Deanery Vicar Rev.Fr. Rudolph Ravi, along with the parishioner Mr. Stephen Quadros Chief Guest, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Romans Lobo, Pastoral Council Secretary Mr. Johnson Lobo, 21 Commissions' Coordinator Mrs. Hilda Menezes, Youth Commission Secretary & PYC Animator Mr. Godwin Tauro, and PYC/ICYM President Ms. Venisha Saldanha, were present on the stage.

The program began with a prayer song by Aroma Peris and team, invoking God's blessings. PYC/ ICYM President Venisha Saldanha welcomed all the dignitaries on stage and the gathered audience. Artist Jaison Sequeira and team, with a symbolic gesture, honored the Konkani flag by handing it over to the Parish Priest and hoisting it on stage to show respect to Konkani Mother. After that, Fr. Rudolph Ravi inaugurated the event by beating the traditional gumat (drum) to the words "Melya Mrgache Mas".

Later, Jaison Sequeira presented his poem "Kedol Paryant". On this occasion, the winners of the Online Konkani Quiz were honored by Mr. Stephen Quadros with prizes. In his speech, Mr. Stephen Quadros shared valuable information about how the Konkani language flourished, its history, and its development. Fr. Rudolph Ravi encouraged the artists and wished them well. He also honored Mr. Stephen Quadros with a memento.

Albert Rodrigues and team entertained the gathering with the beautiful Konkani song "Konkani Amchi Bhas". Parish artists who contributed were honored with mementos by the chief guest.

Mr. Godwin Tauro expressed gratitude on behalf of the organizers, thanking everyone who made the program successful. The formal stage program concluded under the leadership of the chief guest.

The gathering was then entertained by Mrs. Margaret Andrade & team and Mr. Royston D'cunha & team, who filled the hall with laughter through comedy acts. The PYC/ICYM members performed mesmerizing Konkani folk dances.

Alrisha Rodrigues presented the poem "Sutka Taka Mellinam", Oshin Fernandes recited "Amchem Ghar", and Venisha Saldanha recited "Ghanti Kityak Vaztat", delighting the audience.

Mr. Richard Fernandes & team performed "Full Full Fullya", while Mr. Fredwin D'souza & team presented the folk act "Bondodechya Fatyaar Mujgo Vazhota", showcasing Konkani heritage and entertaining everyone. Mr. Sachin Sequeira, Mr. Prem Raskinha, and Nigel Peris provided instrumental support. The program was beautifully compered by Aroma Peris.

Mrs. Evelyn Sequeira served delicious patrade along with coffee and snacks to everyone. The Superior of Pompei Convent Sr. Jaya and nearly 160 parishioners attended the event, the program concluded successfully.
