Gurpur - Mangaluru, Aug 14, 2025 : ICYM St. Simon Deanery, Pezar, in association with the Pompei Youngsters Club, Gurpur Unit, organized “Yu-Vision” event for the youth of Pezar Deanery on 10th August at 9:30 AM in Our Lady of Pompei Church Centenary Hall, Gurpur. Youngsters from the parishes of Adyapady, Bajpe, Ferar, Gurpur, Permude, and Pezar attended.

The programme began with a prayer song by the Gurpur youngsters. Dignitaries on stage included Rev. Fr. Rudolph Ravi D'Sa – Vicar Forane, Rev. Fr. Jesudas D’Costa – Director of ICYM Pezar Deanery, Rev. Fr. Anil Fernandes – Director of CCC Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Romans Lobo – Parish Pastoral Vice President, Mr. Jhonson Lobo – Secretary, Mr. Godwin Tauro – PYC Animator, Ms. Sonali Noronha – ICYM Pezar Deanery President, Ms. Vinola Moras – Joint Secretary, Ms Venisha Saldanha- President and Ms. Viola Moras – Secretary, PYC Gurpur Unit.

Sonali Noronha welcomed the gathering, and the dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and unity. Fr. Jesudas and Fr. Rudolph addressed the youth, followed by a vote of thanks from Vinola Moras. The inaugural was compered by Venisha Saldanha.

The first session, Cyber Crime: Social Media Advantages & Disadvantages, was conducted by Fr. Anil Fernandes, who also shared useful information regarding how to use social media safely. The second, Social Media Challenges & Stress Management, was led by Fr. Arun Lobo who gave valuable insights on psychological affect of social media on youth. Post-lunch, action songs, games, and a quiz by Mr. Roshan Santumayr kept the youth engaged.

Special guests Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza – ICYM Mangalore Diocese Director, and Ms. Suzanna Ferrao, PRO ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Pezar Deanery Representative, along with unit animators, joined the event. Fr. Ashwin congratulated the youth and, with other dignitaries, distributed prizes for group games.

With around 95 participants, the event offered valuable learning on cyber safety and mental health while promoting unity. The day’s moments were captured by Sony D’Souza and concluded at 3:45 PM with the ICYM Anthem.
