Nirkan - Bantwal. Aug 2 : On Sunday, 27th July 2025, ICYM unit of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan organized a meaningful celebration to mark Laudato Si in association with Environmental Commission. The day began with a special offering and a mass, which was prayerful, conducted, and well attended by parishioners and youth members.
The event took place within the church premises, where the Laudato Si program and the official launch of the competition titled Laudato Si Interward Plantation Competition was held.

The competition was inaugurated by Rev Fr. Anil Roshan Lobo, parish priest of Nirkan, by handing over two saplings to each of the seven ward Gurkars & representatives. He also addressed the gathering with a thoughtful speech highlighting the significance of Laudato Si.
Arwin Fernandes, President of ICYM Nirkan unit then explained the rules and regulations of the competition.
The event was attended by Vincent Bennis, Vice President of PPC; Shanthi Veigas, Secretary of PPC; Austin Lobo, Coordinator of Commissions;
Sr Severine Fernandes, Superior of Holy Family Convent, Nirkan; Primal Pinto, Representative of ICYM Nirkan Unit from Bantwal Deanery; Brother Rakesh; Melvita Crasta, Secretary of ICYM Nirkan Unit and other office bearers along with other parishioners and youth members.
The program was compered by Shavil Veigas, who welcomed the gathering, initiated the proceedings, and also delivered the vote of thanks.
