Mangaluru, July 30, 2025 - In a heartwarming celebration, the ICYM Central Council of Mangalore Diocese organized a special program, "Benedicte me, Sacerdotes," at St. Zuze Vas Home, Jeppu on July 27, to honor elderly priests on the occasion of Grandparents' Day.

Unique Interaction Session
The event began with a unique one-to-one interaction session, where each council member spent half an hour with an elderly priest, engaging in meaningful conversations and sharing quality time. This personalized approach facilitated a deeper connection between the council members and the elderly priests.

Main Program Highlights
The main program commenced with a prayer song sung by DEXCO members. Vijoy Ashwin Cardoza, President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese, extended a warm welcome to all the attendees present. Viola Lewis, MIJARC Coordinator, compered the entire program with professionalism.

Special Guest and Celebrations
The highlight of the event was the arrival of a "Santa Clause," a council member dressed as Santa, who distributed chocolates to all the elderly priests present. The "Santa Clause" also praised the dedication and service of the priests in various churches and their contributions to upholding the Christian faith. To celebrate Grandparents' Day, a cake was cut for all the priests, adding a joyful and festive atmosphere to the event.

Program Features
The program featured a diverse range of songs, a game of dumcharades, and showcased the talents of the elderly priests. The event concluded with the "Santa Clause" presenting customized gifts to all the priests, and the council members performing action songs to maintain the festive atmosphere.

Expression of Gratitude
The program ended with a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the elderly priests for their time and dedication. Maria Dsilva, Secretary of the ICYM Central Council, expressed her sincere gratitude to all the attendees and specially thanked all the elderly priests who were present at the program.
