Mangaluru, July 25 : The ICYM unit of St. Teresa of Kolkata Church, Paldane began its activities for the year 2025–26 with a thoughtful, community-centered initiative — Book Drive. This event was designed to encourage reading, promote sustainability, and foster a culture of sharing among parishioners.
Over the course of two weekends, ICYM members invited parishioners to donate books they no longer needed. The response was truly encouraging — families from across the parish came forward with open hearts, contributing a wide variety of books that made the collection both diverse and meaningful.

As part of the day Book Drive initiative, a two-day book exhibition was held on 19th and 20th July 2025 at the church hall, following the 5:00p.m. mass on Saturday, and the 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. masses on Sunday. The exhibition was inaugurated by Fr. Richard Coelho, the parish priest, who offered words of encouragement and appreciation for the youth’s efforts. Secretary of the parish council, Mr. Austin Monteiro was also present.
All books were available free of cost, allowing visitors to pick up anything they found useful — be it for academics, personal growth, or leisure. It truly became a celebration of community, learning, and generosity.
The collection featured a wide variety of books, including Novels, Konkani religious books, Reference books, 10th standard and PUC study materials, NEET and JEE preparation materials, Business and Finance guides, IELTS preparation books, and educational charts — ensuring something for every age group and interest.
The event was met with enthusiastic participation, as parishioners welcomed the opportunity to discover valuable resources for academics, personal development, and leisure reading.
The initiative marked a meaningful and inspiring start to the ICYM Paldane Unit’s annual journey — led by President Ms. Vileesha Braggs, Secretary Ms. Aashel Lobo, Animator Mr. Roshan Monteiro, and supported by Parish Priest Fr. Richard Coelho, along with the committed efforts of the ICYM members.
The ICYM Paldane Unit extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, participated, and supported the event — helping turn a simple concept into a vibrant expression of faith, learning, and togetherness.
