Mangaluru, July 16 : Carmel School observed the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, its patroness, on 15th July 2025. The day began with a Eucharistic celebration at St. Ann’s Chapel, attended by Catholic students and staff of St Ann’s campus institutions celebrated by Rev Fr Melwyn D Cunha.

Following the liturgy, a cultural programme was held in the school auditorium, led by the students of Grade 6. The entire performance was presented through dance, singing, narration, and PowerPoint. It began with a prayer dance and a thoughtful tableau titled "A Cloak of Virtues", portraying a child who is guided by Mary to embrace virtues such as humility, faith, hope, obedience, and prayer. Each virtue was brought to life through expressive movement and narration.

The story of Prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal was presented next through a PowerPoint presentation with reading in parts. This retelling of the dramatic encounter on Mount Carmel highlighted Elijah’s deep trust in God and ended with a symbolic rain dance celebrating the return of rain after a long drought. The programme then moved to the account of Our Lady’s appearance to Saint Simon Stock, depicting the origin of the Brown Scapular and its meaning as a sign of Mary’s care for those who follow her Son.

A modern-day story of temptation, reflection, and return to faith was also shared through dance and narration.

Sister Rosevera, the Principal, praised the Grade 6 students and their mentors—Mrs. Lolita, Mrs. Redia, and Mrs. Akshatha—for their excellent preparation and commitment. In her address, she gave a clarion call to the students to stay alert and mindful, reminding them that the mother of Mount Carmel consistently supports and inspires. She emphasized that while perfection is not required, what truly matters is courage and a willing spirit. She also spoke about the importance of using language to build, not break. She concluded by encouraging everyone to live with gentleness and to value one another, following the example set by Mary.

The day’s events invited all present to reflect on Mary’s example and the values she embodies in the Carmel tradition.
