Puttur, June 9 : The Catechism classes for the academic year 2025-26 were meaningfully ianugurated on 8th June 2025 at Mai De Deus Church, Puttur with the theme: "Formed in Faith, Filled with Hope."

The day began with the Holy Eucharist, offered for the intentions of all catechism students, teachers, and families. The liturgy was animated by the catechism team, making it a spiritually enriching beginning to the new catechetical year.

The formal inauguration ceremony was held during the Mass. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas, officially inaugurated the catechism year by pouring water to a plant, symbolizing the nurturing of faith in the hearts of young children, just as a plant is nurtured with care and love.

As a gesture of commitment to faith formation:

The Parish Priest handed over the Holy Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church to the catechism teachers, signifying their role as spiritual guides.
He also distributed six catechism textbooks to the children, marking the beginning of their journey in faith and knowledge.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas emphasized the importance of catechism in the life of every Catholic. He urged the children to take catechism seriously, not just as a subject to study but as a way of life rooted in Jesus Christ. He also motivated parents and teachers to support and accompany the children with love, example, and commitment.

The event was filled with meaningful symbolism and a strong spiritual message, reminding the faithful that catechism is the foundation of a strong and committed Christian life. With this hopeful and vibrant start, the parish looks forward to a fruitful catechetical year ahead.
