Moodbidri, June 2 : Corpus Christi Church marked the commencement of the 2025–26 Catechism academic year with a solemn inaugural ceremony integrated into the 7:30 AM Holy Mass on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The day began at 7:00 AM with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, followed by benediction, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a symbolic procession to the altar involving six children, two parent representatives, the Parish Council President and Secretary, two Catechism teachers, and the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza.

Under the theme “Faith Formed – Hope Filled”, the inaugural rite featured a symbolic act where parent and Parish Council representatives poured water onto a green plant, signifying growth and commitment to faith formation. Rev. Fr. Onil D’Souza presented a copy of the Bible, while Catechism teachers handed over Catechism books to the children, marking the formal beginning of their religious education journey.

Following the ceremony, the Holy Eucharistic celebration continued. After the homily, newly appointed Catechism teachers took an oath, affirming their commitment to faithfully impart the teachings of the Church. The liturgy was meaningfully led by the Catechism teachers, adding depth to the occasion.

Mrs. Lavina Almeida efficiently compered the event, ensuring its smooth execution. After the Mass, children proceeded to their respective classrooms where attendance was taken and essential information recorded.

This ceremonious and spiritually uplifting beginning reflects the dedication of the Corpus Christi Church community toward nurturing the faith and moral growth of its younger generation, laying a strong foundation for the Catechism year ahead.
