Vorkady, May 26 : The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Vorkady, was graced with deep spiritual fervour and heartfelt celebrations as the parish community came together to commemorate the Ordination Jubilee of three beloved priests on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

The joyous occasion marked the 40th year of priestly service of Rev. Fr Basil Vas, 31 years of priesthood of Rev. Fr Ivan D'Mello, and 10 years of priesthood of Rev. Fr Santhosh D'Souza. A solemn Thanksgiving Mass was held at 8:00 a.m. to celebrate this significant milestone in the lives of these devoted servants of God.

Rev. Fr Basil Vas, the jubilarian with 40 years of tireless pastoral service, was the Main Celebrant of the Eucharistic celebration. He was joined by several concelebrants, including Rev. Fr Alwyn D’Souza, Director of the Family Life Centre; Rev. Fr Deepak D'Sa, Principal of the English Medium School, Madanthyar; and Rev. Fr Cyril Lasrado, representing the Diocese of Bellary.

The Mass was marked by reverence, gratitude, and divine grace. The church resounded with hymns and prayers of thanksgiving as the congregation reflected on the dedicated service and spiritual leadership of the jubilarian priests.

Following the Holy Eucharist, a felicitation program was organized in the church hall. The event was attended by approximately 1000 faithful, including parishioners, religious sisters, family members, and well-wishers of the priests. The program included welcome addresses, congratulatory messages, cultural performances, and the presentation of mementos to the priests as tokens of love and appreciation for their years of committed service.

The highlight of the event was the heartfelt speeches delivered by the jubilarians, who shared memories of their spiritual journey, expressed gratitude to God, their families, mentors, and the faithful who stood by them throughout their ministry.

The celebration was a moving tribute to the enduring faith and dedication of the priests, inspiring many to reflect on the value of selfless service and spiritual leadership in the Church. The event concluded with a breakfast, bringing together the community in unity and joy.
