Vorkady, May 2, 2025 :A significant milestone was marked in the long and inspiring journey of St Joseph’s A.U.P. School, Kaliyoor, as the foundation stone for a new memorial building was solemnly laid on Wednesday, May 1. This building commemorates the 140 years of dedicated service the institution has rendered in the field of education, especially among the underprivileged sections of society.

The foundation stone ceremony was held in the presence of Rev. Fr Basil Vas, Manager and Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Vorkady, who led the prayer service and blessed the foundation. He emphasized the importance of education as a tool for transformation and lauded the legacy of St Joseph’s School in uplifting the rural community through generations.

Rev. Fr Santhosh D’Souza graced the occasion with his presence and offered his blessings and support for the noble initiative. The school’s Headmistress, who has been a pillar of strength in managing academic and developmental activities, welcomed the guests and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making this moment possible.

The foundation stone ceremony was also attended by the dedicated PTA members, the school’s engineering consultant, and the building contractor. Their involvement marks the beginning of a hopeful new chapter for the school’s infrastructure, aimed at providing a more conducive learning environment for students.

St Joseph’s A.U.P. School currently provides education to around 1000 students, most of whom come from economically disadvantaged families. The school has stood as a beacon of light in the region, imparting value-based education and instilling hope for a brighter future.

The proposed building, a memorial to the school’s 140-year legacy, is a long-awaited dream that symbolizes progress, perseverance, and the power of community. With construction now underway, the school management is appealing to generous donors and well-wishers to come forward and support this noble cause.

“We believe that this new building will not only enhance the physical infrastructure but also elevate the aspirations of our students and give them a sense of pride and belonging,” said the Headmistress. “We are hopeful that with the help of kind-hearted donors, we will be able to realize this vision and continue our mission with greater vigor.”

The school invites individuals, alumni, philanthropists, and charitable organizations to join hands in this endeavor and contribute to shaping the future of hundreds of deserving children.
