Mangaluru, Aug 30 : RGUHS Mysore Zone Basketball (M) Tournament 2023-24 is being hosted by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte on 30th & 31st August 2023. Dr Gerald Santhosh D’souza, Director, Department of Physical Education, Mangalore University inaugurated the tournament on 30th August 2023 at Basketball court of the college. Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho, Director Father Muller Charitable Institutions presided over the programme.

Rev. Fr Roshan Crasta, Administrator Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital welcomed the gathering and the chief guest. He said it’s an honour to host such events at our campus and wished all the players well.

Chief Guest Dr Gerald Santhosh D’souza in his inaugural address explained the importance of physical fitness and sports science. It should be understood and promoted by professionals, especially doctors. Sports develop a feeling of brotherhood and team spirit. He encouraged all the players to playwell and take the best experience as they go back home.

Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho in his presidential address encouraged the players and wished them all success.

Mr Alen Jinson, Sports Secretary thanked everyone on behalf of the Institution.

The formal Inaugural function was concluded with the Institution Anthem. The programme kicked off with the Chief guest shooting a ball into the basket to inaugurate the event.

Rev. Fr Ashwin L Crasta, Assistant Administrator Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, Principal In-charge, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr Suresh S M, Sports Coordinator, Mysore Zone, Mr Chennakeshava M.G., Physical Education Instructor, FMHMC, Physical Education Directors of other colleges, Faculty members, Students’ council members and students were present for the inaugural programme.

Total of 18 teams from various colleges of Mysore zone affiliated under RGUHS are participating in the tournament.
