Sagar, May 9 : "Institutions grow stronger as they grow older" said Bishop of Shimoga, Most Rev. Dr Francis Serrao SJ. He was addressing the crowds gathered to celebrate the Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of St. Joseph's Parish, Sagar on May 3, 2017.

"Although man becomes weaker as he grows older, an institution becomes stronger as it advances in age" said Bishop Serrao. He appreciated the Parishioners, the Religious and the Clergy of Sagar for their continual co-operation and support to build up the Parish.

The Bishop was welcomed by the Parish Pastoral Council(PPC) Members. After the solemn Mass, the Bishop was felicitated on the occasion of his sacerdotal Silver Jubilee. Bishop Serrao released a souvenir to commemorate the Jubilee of the Parish. On this occasion, the Parish contributed Rs. 50,000/- to the Higher Education Fund of the Diocese. Children and youth performed attractive dances followed by lucky games. "Muktivahini", a hearse was blessed and inaugurated on the occason.

PPC Secretary, Mr. Daniel D'Costa proposed the vote of thanks. Refreshments to all were sponsored by DYC of Udupi District, Mr. Wilfred D'Souza. The memorable day came to an end with the traditional procession through the main streets of the town.
