Bellary, 19 July : The Diocese of Bellary witnessed an inspiring Faith Formation Seminar for Catechism and Moral Science Teachers on 19th July 2025. The event was a collaborative effort spearheaded by Fr. Suresh, Secretary of the Diocesan Catechism Commission, and Fr. Arogya Dani, Joint Secretary, who ensured a well-structured and spiritually enriching experience for all participants.

The day began with an opening prayer, setting a reflective and enthusiastic tone. In his welcome address, Fr. Suresh emphasized the critical role of teachers in shaping the hearts and minds of children through both moral values and Christian faith. He then introduced the keynote speaker, Fr. Vinay Kumar, Karnataka Regional Secretary for Liturgy and Interreligious Dialogue, who was warmly received by the audience.

Fr. Vinay led the formation session with passion and clarity, drawing from the Church’s rich documents such as Catechesi Tradendae, Evangelii Nuntiandi, and Sacrosanctum Concilium. He explained how meaningful liturgical celebrations can greatly enhance faith formation in parish settings, stressing that liturgical formation and faith formation are closely connected. A well-celebrated liturgy, he noted, becomes a living catechism that deeply nourishes the faith of the community, especially the young.

He challenged the participants to move beyond textbook teaching and become authentic witnesses of what they teach. Emphasizing the importance of relevance and engagement in moral and catechetical instruction, he called on teachers to integrate storytelling, liturgical symbols, and real-life applications into their lessons.

Coordinators from different schools and parishes of the three deaneries — Lingasugur, Sindhanur, and Raichur — actively took part in the seminar. A total of 47 participants were present, who also engaged in vibrant discussions, sharing challenges and creative ideas from their own classrooms. The seminar provided not only content but also community — a space where teachers could encourage and learn from one another.

The day concluded with a fellowship meal, celebrating the communion and commitment of those who serve as faith educators in the diocese. The seminar was widely appreciated for its fresh approach, spiritual depth, and practical relevance.
