Bengaluru, May 6, 2025 : Rev. Prof. Merlin Rengith Ambrose, the executive secretary of the Commission for Canon Law and Other Legislative Texts of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), is delighted to announce a Diploma Course in Canon Law. The title of the course is: Canon Law for a Synodal Church.

This programme is specifically designed to conscientise the lay people regarding their rights and obligations and the participatory bodies in order to make the Church more synodal through their participation and co-responsibility. Their baptismal call to cooperate in Tria-munera Christ (Three-fold functions) will be the axis of the entire course.

Course Benefits: The course provides a valuable opportunity for participants to: Deepen their knowledge in Canon Law; Gain a comprehensive understanding of Christ’s faithful’s role in ensuring a Synodal Church by becoming missionary disciples; Learn effectively the magisterial teachings regarding the role of the laity, various participatory structures in the Church, stable lay ministries, teachings of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India and the salient features of the Final Document of the Synod on Synodality.
