Mangaluru, Mar 8 : "Women are the real architects of society".

To mark the Women Empowerment Day, a programme was organised by St Agnes School, Bendore on 5th March 2021. This day brings many things for women – a cause for celebration, reason to pause and re-evaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and a time to honour loved and admired. Mrs Patcy Lobo , Senior Co-ordinator of CASK was the chief guest. The Joint Secretary of St Agnes institution Sr. Dr. Lydia Fernandes A.C was present for the programme.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp followed by the prayer service. Teacher Steffy Pereira welcomed the gathering and the students of grade IX performed the welcome dance. The significance of International Women’s Day was given by teacher Reena Monteiro. She highlighted the importance of education in women and encouraged the women that no hurdles can stop them from accomplishing their dream. The chief guest Mrs. Patcy Lobo, through powerpoint presentation highlighted the message about competency of women, intellectual capacity of women as capable of holding high responsibility. She also motivated the students to speak for their rights. She mentioned a few female activists like Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thunberg, Mother Theresa etc and encouraged the students to be like them. The Principal Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C highlighted on the theme for International Women’s Day for the year 2021 ‘ Choose to Challenge’.

Selfie with super women and poster making on women empowerment competition was organised for the students. On this occasion students those who excelled in Wiz Spell Bee were honoured by the school. A creative backdrop was done by the teachers apt for the day. The programme brought to a conclusion by hope and faith being instilled among all women.
