Mangaluru, Oct 6 : The Father Muller Charitable Institutions here, has long been into the healthcare sector catering for the health needs of people of the region. The emphasis the institution brings in health care and academia is also seen in co-curricular activities. The importance of mind, spirit and body connect will make a person a human. The colleges coming under this vast umbrella of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions inculcate sports or leisurely activities which stimulate the body and thus help with the mind.

The NSS volunteers of Father Muller Medical College and Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences took part in the Fit India Run conducted by FIT INDIA MOVEMENT.

The Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi on 29 August 2019.

The campaign this year ran from 15th August to 2nd Oct encouraging fitness for all, thus helping get freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety and other diseases. A number of students participated actively from the colleges showing an active and healthy Mullerian Family. The event was so special that the management, faculty and staff to observed the event to make it even more special and send out the message of “FIT BODY, FIT MIND”.

In the Fit India Movement campaign this year the concept was “It can be run anywhere, anytime!”

You could - Run a route of your choice, at a time that suits you or Break-up your runs or Run your own race at your pace or Track your meters manually or by using any tracking app or GPS watch.

The mode of participation being that Participation can be done through Fit India Website either on, Organiser’s platform or those who have undertaken their own run can individually submit their data and download the certificate.

The vast expanse of the Father Muller’s campuses with its Sports centre in the main campus with the badminton arena and gym brings students from all walks of life together in the ultimate goal of health of body and mind.

The management including its director Rev. Fr Richard A. Coelho and Administrators make it a priority to play badminton and walk to help keep the body sound and reduce the stress of the hectic day’s schedule.

The Prime Minister’s call for health of mind and body was celebrated through various events including YOGA day and this FIT INDIA movement by the Father Muller Charitable Institutions.
